What should eat according to Ayurveda? What lifestyle works best?
Ayurveda is an ancient medicine that I like to use in my practice because it is empowering for the patients, has a nature based approach, unifies mind, body and soul and allow for personalization of treatment and diet. But, my biggest reason is that it optimizes the natural state of health and that makes people happy! Ayurveda or knowledge of life (literal translation) aims to restore balance in the body through the integration of the five cosmic elements of: air, space water, fire, earth. When integrating these elements in the doshas (constitutional type) it give the ideal diet for you in that particular type of your characteristics: Kapha, Pitta, Vata. Each of these constitutional type has its own unique strength and weakness at require special diet and lifestyle.  Based on that I create a personalized diet and lifestyle plan. Ayurveda helps to cope and prevent stress. It incorporates: right diet, yoga, meditation, breathing, skin brushing and oil massage. Skin brushing and oil massage rejuvenates the skin, detoxify, improves circulation and helps with weight loss. The breathing exercise oxygenates the brain, alkalizes the blood which helps with detoxification. To relax try a warming bath with ginger and baking soda right before the bed. Try yoga for balancing the nervous system. Certain yoga poses help with calming nervous system like child pose. Certain poses relieve tension in the neck and keep hair healthy (bring the blood supply to the scalp) like: cobra, cow pose, and camel pose. Do everything with mindfulness, self-love and happiness will follow.
